Streamline KYC for better onboarding

Using blockchain technology, the opportunities for your business to streamline its Know Your Customer (KYC) processes and improve the customer onboarding experience become clear.

For example, when a customer completes a KYC process with a financial company, the information could be inserted into a blockchain and shared with other financial institutions.

Here’s how a bank puts our partner solution to use:

  • When a customer applies for a new account, the bank asks them for key KYC information and rules on who can access this.
  • These rules are captured as a digital smart contract, which acts as a gatekeeper to the information on behalf of the customer.
  • A blockchain is used to store encrypted KYC documents and encrypted records of each digital event, acting as an audit trail for the whole process.
  • Another digital process handles the actual KYC onboarding and the proof of execution is recorded on the event blockchain.
  • If another bank requests access to the customer’s KYC information, the system first authenticates that bank then checks the access rules in the digital smart contract.
  • If the rules are met, the other bank gets keys to access the required data from the blockchain as well as parts of the audit trail. Any attempts by other users to make changes to the blockchain will be detected.
